The Curse

INTRODUCTION

A friend finds themselves infected with a supernatural affliction. In this story, the nobler elements of the human spirit are extolled as someone gives much more than most people would give. The person may not start with the intent of personal sacrifice and may thus be an unintentional hero, thus emphasising the heroic nature of the choice and act.

We start the adventure with Kimberly Clariday visiting the protagonist, and she clearly wants help with something.

SUBTHREADS

Green-Eyed Monster
A well-meaning person gives the protagonist a cause for jealousy. This thread involves lovers breaking some social rules, such as in an adulterous relationship or worse. The thread may thus turn around their inner conflicts and the effects of others discovering their tryst.

Murder
A brutal killer is on the loose. The thread involves a special form of transformation, in which a person grows up. The veils of younger times are lost as they learn and grow. Thus the rudderless youth finds meaning or perhaps an older person rediscovers their purpose.

LOCATIONS

Underground
In an urban setting this usually refers to the sewers, but it could also represent catacombs, an underground facility, a bunker, or even just a basement.

Library
This could be a national library, a public lending library, a university library, or even a large private collection. In a less literal sense, it might even refer to an online database.
